someone fell off a cliff and grabbed a tree branch on the way down to the jagged rocks below. they hung there, swaying helplessly, unable to go up safely and with certain death below... and began to pray fervently!God heard the prayer; and asked the terrified branch-clinger what they would like done. "save me!" was the response.
God said, "very well, i will save you, but first you must trust me."
"i will!... i do!"
"good," said God, "let go of the branch then."
