whatever happened to...
eleven

eleven was an event designed to provide a place where people could come together to explore God through music and other creative arts, prayer, teaching and discussion. it ran from may 2005 to december 2007.
we ran a wide-ranging programme of events - each started with a time of coffee, refreshments, chat and friendship before going into a mix of praise, worship, prayer, reflection, discussion and learning, often facilitated by a visiting speaker. the emphasis was on providing a safe and welcoming space where people felt comfortable to ask questions about and discuss their faith - we aimed to provide a vibrant and welcoming environment where everybody was free to be who God made them to be.
wow?

wow (worship on wednesday), an informal evening of worship in a relaxed and friendly environment. bring an instrument or just come as you are, but be prepared to engage with God through music, the bible, prayer, friendship and sharing. ran for several months in 2007, stopped to leave room for the new eleven.
akplus?

akplus stopped meeting as akplus in september 2006, when a lot of the members went to university. it still lives on in concept (if not in name) at alive and kicking.
akpraise?

akpraise was, in many ways, the beginning of eleven. designed as an informal time of worship and praise through music, prayer and discussion it ran on the 2nd, 4th and 5th wednesday of each month from august 2004. after a slow start, numbers grew steadily throughout 2005 although participation did not grow as rapidly! by the end of 2005, with eleven beginning to get established it was felt that there was too much of a similarity between the two events and that it would be beneficial to concentrate on just one of them - eleven - so the decision was taken to finish akpraise at the end of december 2005.
echonet?

- it was around for nearly 2 years
- it inspired such philosophical questions as "what does it mean?" and "echowhat?"
- no-one knows why we chose it but we're sure there was a good reason
- and it's gone
- in its place is the brand new shiny ad33
- and this time, we've got an explanation.
