"get connected"

As is usual on these kind of things, akwa proved to be a weekend of less than the usual amount of sleep, but that was only because we packed every minute with as much as we possibly could!

We were joined for the weekend by Bart Woodhouse who lead us through a series of sessions on the life of Jesus (His baptism and temptation, choosing the disciples, the woman at the well, washing the disciples' feet and Jesus' death and resurrection).

The ak band lead us in worship during the main sessions and, attempting to apply 1 Corinthians 10:13; 'if you eat, drink or do anything do it all for the glory of God,' we tried to make worship a part of everything we did simply by the way that we did it!

After dark on Saturday evening we shared in more worship based around Jesus being the light of the world and carried torches down to the field where we reflected on scripture, sang and considered what it meant to be a light to the world!

Over the weekend there was a choice of workshops (drama, music, craft, dance, drumming and challenge), challenge activities, early morning walks, small groups, a film evening and a quiz. We even managed to squeeze in some free time in which you could enjoy the coffee shop, make use of the prayer room or the games room and do school work if you needed to. You can see why there may have been a shortage of sleep!

We always ate together at one long table (the food was excellent, many thanks to the catering team) and community we shared during meal time was very important to the weekend. After the last meal of the weekend we share communion and this was a very powerful experience.

As far as I know everyone who went on the weekend had a great time and none of us can wait until next year! Thank you to everyone who made it possible for us to go and ultimately thanks to God!
