soul survivor
start the summer at the uk's largest Christian youth festival.
30th july-4th august 2010, stafford showground.
this year we're taking an ak group to soul survivor - the country's largest Christian youth event. start the summer with a fun and relaxing weekend away in a tent - bring your friends and start the party!
what is soul survivor?
soul survivor conferences began in 1993 and grew out of the 'new wine' family conferences. the vision for the soul survivor conferences is to offer time away that is specifically for teenagers with loads of fun stuff going on, where Christians and non-Christians can come and hang out but the heart of it is about worshipping God, learning what it means to be a Christian practically and spiritually and experiencing the Holy Spirit personally. soul survivor now attracts around 28,000 people over four conferences.
the programme
soul survivor is a mix of huge main sessions, seminars, workshops, sports, cafés, cinema, skate park and an after hours programme of all the latest bands, artists and workshops. so from worship to bible teaching, prayer to social action, jazz café to arcade games, fair trade to disco, big-screen movies to late night worship, skateboarding to basketball to frisbee to football, dance to crafts and a whole load more, there's lots to keep you occupied, challenged and entertained more about soul survivor please turn over for practical information about the event.
there's also more details about the programme and the whole event on the
soul survivor website.
supervision
the festival takes place on stafford showground, a self-contained and enclosed site. as such it is a comparatively safe environment for young people to enjoy space and freedom whilst remaining within safe boundaries. we won't therefore be sticking as a large supervised group for the entire event, but letting young people explore in groups between set meeting times (likely to be mealtimes and a curfew). there are clear maps and many stewards around the site, it will be made clear that young people are to stay in groups and we'll ensure that mobile numbers are shared amongst everybody. if you have queries or concerns about this, please have a word with us.
accommodation
we'll be camping on-site and, between the group, we will need our own tents. please let us know when you book if you have tents we can use (group ones especially).
food
whilst there are a small selection of food snack vans, they are expensive and there's not much choice, so we will be catering for ourselves. if you have camping cooking equipment we could borrow, please indicate this on the booking form too.
transport
transport will be by a combination of minibus and cars, depending on numbers. departure will be at around 1pm from the hut on friday, returning at around 11am on wednesday morning. local home drop-offs should be possible if requested on the booking form.
cost
the total cost of the weekend will be up to £130. the cost includes access to all venues and events, campsite, transport & main meals. we hope to get the cost subsidised and, if we do, the total cost could be substantially lower. as with all ak events, if cost may prevent you from coming please speak to us and we'll work something out.
parents' meeting
we will be available at 6.30pm on sunday 6th june at the hut before alive and kicking for parents with any questions or wanting to know more - or catch one of the leaders any ak night or on the numbers to the right.
booking
please return the booking form with a £30 deposit by 27th june 2010. please note that we will be booking places shortly after these dates and cancellations will cost alive and kicking the full ticket amount.
